TITLE: SPEECH/LANGUAGE THERAPIST
QUALIFICATIONS: Current certification as a Speech/Language Therapist in the State of Arizona (Hearing
Handicapped, Sign Language desirable). Positive recommendation from past employer
and/or training institution.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
SUPERVISES: Classroom Aide when applicable.
JOB GOAL: To provide speech and language therapy services to assigned school(s)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs the clinical and administrative duties of the Speech and Language Therapist.
- Conducts speech, language, and hearing screenings.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations of speech, language.
- Prepares evaluation reports and instructional objectives for the therapeutic program.
- Acts as parent/teacher counselor in regard to speech, language and hearing disorders.
- Consults with related – area professionals and makes client referral when appropriate.
- Conducts Speech-Language and hearing therapeutic programs in accord with instructional plans.
- Provides in-service information to staff.
- Controls daily/weekly schedule effectively.
- Demonstrates knowledge of special education rules and regulations. From a State and Federal level, district procedures and policies related to special education.
- Provides for own professional growth by periodic involvement in course work, in-service, professional conferences appropriate to needs and interest related to speech and language therapy field.
- Carefully assesses the necessity of all absences, and does not abuse the privilege and sick leave and business leave.
- Performs other appropriate duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
A maximum of 190 working days per school year. Salary and work year to be according to current schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent in accordance with provisions of this Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified personnel. |
