TITLE: School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS: Current Certification as a School Psychologist in the state of Arizona.
Positive recommendations from past employer and/or training institute.
Ability to communicate effectively with various groups verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform assessments that lead to the identification of all educational disbilities.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
JOB GOAL: To provide psychological services to district students referred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluations of students referred for possible placement in special education program, eligibility of student special education, and/or for alternative strategies with the regular classroom. Consultation with staff members, parents and others as required during the screening, referral, and evaluation of students.
- Attends MDT meetings and recommends IEPs for all disabled students. Conducts follow-up activities to assure the IEP is being implemented in the program setting.
- Consults with individual faculty members concerning curriculum content, classroom methodology, and other items pertinent to establishing a climate conducive to maximal learning for each student.
- Provide limited counseling consultation that may be beyond the scope of the school counselor.
- Provide professional development to schools regarding correct forms and procedures for special education.
- Provide consultation to administration on special education procedures.
- Assist the administration and staff in designing and implementing in-service seminars; workshops, and conferences intended to improve professional insights, attitudes and performance.
- Assist in school wide assessments as directed.
- Consultation with Superintendent regarding appropriate use of Psychological Services.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten months per year. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board and the Superintendent.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Special Eduation Director in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy of Evaluation by Administrative Personnel.
