TITLE: SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or valid G.E.D.
Has a valid COL license and Bus Driving Certification.
Able to demonstrate aptitude for the work to be performed.
Has a past history of good attendance, being dependable, and punctual.
Able to work effectively without direct supervision.
Able to communicate effectively with children and adults.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager
JOB GOALS: To provide students with safe and efficient transportation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Observes all mandatory safety regulations and traffic laws for school buses.
2. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
3. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects and maintains bus cleanliness. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure.
4. Transports only authorize students to and from their authorized stops.
5. Enforces all passenger safety rules and regulations.
6. Notifies the appropriate authorities of all accidents by completing the required reports. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
7. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of district school trips.
8. All other duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-months per year. Hourly rate and workdays to be established by the Board approved schedules.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance
with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
