JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:

Student Achievement Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.

Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master’s degree preferred)

 

2.

Valid Arizona Teaching or Administrative Certificate

 

3.

Five (5) years classroom or administrative experience

 

4.

Professional development skills in the area(s) of: communication and conferencing, leadership development, standards-based curriculum, peer observation and mentoring, knowledge of subject matter, delivery of instruction for differentiation, and assessment of student academic progress

 

5.

Graduate coursework in curriculum content or other education area.

 

6.

Ability to collaborate with appropriate District and school-based administrators and programs.

 

7.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

 

8.

Successful experience working with diverse populations.

 

 

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:

 

To mentor teachers in data analysis and improvement of differential instruction for students identified with disabilities and students identified as gifted through modeling, coaching, and delivery of professional development opportunities for the purpose of increasing students’ academic achievement.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.

Assist teachers in understanding and deliveringdifferentiated instruction including small groupinstruction, reteach, enrich, and stations (whereappropriate).

 

2.

Assist general education and special education teachers indeveloping co-teaching plans and delivery.

 

3.

Assist teachers on the delivery of instruction, includinginstructional strategies and techniques, learning styles,student engagement strategies, critical thinking skills inthe classroom.

 

4.

Model direct and explicit systematic instructional deliverywith scientifically based instructional research.

 

5.

Assist teachers on lesson design and planning includingstudent task alignment, success criteria, writingobjectives, backward design, assessment, and studentteaming based on Arizona academic standards.

 

6.

Assist teachers in developing appropriate formativeassessments consistent with academic standards and thelessons taught.

 

7.

Assist teachers in classroom management to improveinstruction with the focus on routines and procedures.

 

8.

Use research-based and best practices to aid teachers inthe management of time, space, materials, and behavioral aspects of the classroom.

 

9.

Assist in organizing and providing professional development on district assessments.

 

10.

Assist teachers in analysis of student-learning data fromformative and district assessments and effective use of those data in planning for instruction.

 

11.

Assist teachers in implementation of appropriate andeffective use of technology in the classroom for differentiation.

 

12.

Conduct professional development activities incollaboration with the Director of Special Education andthe Director of Educational Services including theformation of learning communities.

 

13.

Provide and/or facilitate professional development for teachers in the form of training, mini in-service and staff discussions.

 

14.

Assist special education teachers with the use of IEP-Pro and other relevant software programs.

 

15.

Provide follow-up and extension of professional development training.

 

16.

Serve as a member of the District Instructional Team.

 

17.

Participate in New Teacher Academy activities.

 

18.

Collaborate on the adoption and implementation of curriculum resources.

 

19.

Collaborate on the development, implementation, and monitoring of District Integrated Action Plan.

 

20.

Assist teachers with professional improvement plans as requested by teachers or the principal.

 

21.

Assist in preparation for and administration of statewide testing.

 

22.

Meet with other Instructional Coaches and the Director of Special Education.

 

23.

Support and assist implementation of site and District vision and mission.

 

24.

Participate in District professional development workshops and training.

 

 

25.         Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Special                            Education.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1560 hours per year with a one-year contract. Salary and work days to be established with the Board.

 EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Instructional Coaches.
